ABOUT NED SOLTZ

Ned Soltz has been involved in production for over 25 years starting by producing PSA's and community programming back in the days of "live to tape" and 1" porta-packs. Moving in more hands-on directions, he jumped on the desktop video bandwagon with such early products as Radius Video Vision. But one fine April day in 1999, Apple debuted a program which they had just purchased from Macromedia. He adopted Final Cut Pro 1.0 and hasn't looked back since. In those 10 years, Ned has been among the founders of the LA Final Cut Pro group and upon moving to the DFW area in 2001 became active in the Dallas FCPUG. He now resides in New Jersey just across the GW Bridge from New York and is active with both New York Mopictive and the NJ FCPUG. But when not devoting time to user groups, Ned shoots, edits and consults on hardware, software and video-related gear. He is a contributing editor of Videography Magazine and DV Magazine, and is one of the moderators of the 2-pop.com web site. His monthly column Instant Expert appears in DV magazine in addition to numerous product review articles and feature stories. He co-authored 1 book on After Effects and 2 books on FCP with the now-defunct Friends of Ed publisher and was technical editor of Motion Graphics and Effects in Final Cut Pro by Kevin Monahan, published by Peachpit Press. His wife love it when he talks techie.

ABOUT JAY IGNASZEWSKI

Jay came East after wandering off the honor farm at the Shirley Temple Black Home for the Cinematically Bewildered in Palm Springs.  Having worked in the Film Industry for over 25 years on the West Coast, Jay came East seeking four seasons and the perfect ear of white corn.  He has worked with George Lucas, Steven Speilberg, David Lynch and Mel Brooks, to name a few. His skill set includes editing (Emmy for co-editing the pilot for Twin Peaks), visual effects (producer VFX for Eraser, tests for Matrix and What Dreams May Come),sound (location and post - One Flew Over the Cuckoos Nest, Black Stallion), camera (Panavision, Arriflex, Éclair, B&H) and he makes a mean Bolognese. Jay also teaches production courses at two local universities, sharing his vast reservoir of hearsay and misinformation with the upcoming generation of image-makers. Hoping to steer these impressionable youths to a better life path such as animal husbandry or fly tying. Jay now is seeking a crisp, brilliant sauvignon blanc to go with the corn.

ABOUT GARY PONTORE

Gary started out in this business fifteen years ago working as an assistant editor, shortly thereafter finding his space as an editor at a small boutique production/post-production house in Rhinebeck, NY while attending Bard College. Very quickly into his hands-on training Gary realized that the technology side of the post-production business was meant for him. Since then Gary has worked as an Editor, Sales Engineer, DVD Author/Compressionist, Demo Artist, Animator, Post-Production Supervisor and Integration Specialist.

Gary’s palette of broadcast, editorial and industry experience include: The Criterion Collection, Have Inc., Sony Music Studios, WCW, Disney’s World Of English, Accom, Apple, Avid, Discreet, Fast Multimedia, Media 100, Pinnacle Systems, and Spruce Technologies to name a few. Gary has earned the following awards and recognitions for his editorial work: a Cine Golden Eagle, three Eclat Awards, a Wilbur Award, and a Gold Houston Worldfest Award. Some of Gary’s most recent and recognized credits include: DVD Compressionist/DVD Author/Post-Production Supervisor on 2008 Grammy Nominated R. Kelly’s “Trapped In The Closet Chapters 13-22”; Multicam Post-Supervisor on 2007 Platinum Record Awarded R. Kelly’s “Live Light It Up Tour DVD”; DVD Compressionist for 2006 R. Kelly’s “Trapped In The Closet Chapters 1-12,” and DVD Author on 2005 Grammy Nominated Martin Scorsese’s “The Blues Film Series.”

Gary now brings this palette to Tekserve, where he’s looking forward to helping not just film & broadcast companies in the Northeast but also corporations move towards an Apple centric solution. Gary takes the time to listen, brainstorm, and view each customer relationship as a partnership in order to come up with a solution that is best for the customer. Gary wants to help people make an educated decision instead of an impulsive one.
